Marble's® Improved Peep Tang Sight
http://www.marblearms.com/improvedPeepTang.html
Marble’s® has improved the classic peep tang sight to accommodate all shooters regardless of the distance that they shoot. The cowboy shooter and hunter both have asked to have the ability to shoot at 30 yards out to 500 yards and in some cases 1000 yards with the same gun and sight. We have taken our popular Marble’s® Peep Sight that has elevation and windage adjustment and made it more versatile in the field.

The sight base remains mounted to the tang as before and with a twist of the setscrew the post is removed. Select the post height that you want and press the post into place firmly then tighten the setscrew. These highly precision CNC machined parts match up every time for repeatability. The guide stud is machined from 4140 steel and heat treated for strength and hardness. We machined graduation lines on the elevation barrel, which adjusts in .004” increments per click. We have also added a jam nut to lock in your elevation. This gives you the advantage of pre-setting an assortment of uprights to be locked in at desired yardage. We have made this sight to be used by the traditional long-range shooters as an alternate to a Vernier or Soule style sight. You can purchase (separately) additional shorter posts as well as mid and long-range posts, giving you the versatility to shoot many guns out over 1000 yards. The long-range post has 2 inches of elevation adjustment. All of our sights are machined with the same care and quality that we that has been a tradition for < over 110 years.

Marble's® Standard Peep Tang Sight
http://www.marblearms.com/standardPeepTang.html
The Marble’s® Peep Tang Sight is one of the cornerstones of our line. In the days when iron sights were the rule and scopes were the exception, the Peep Tang Sight was considered the top of the line in both precision shooting and general hunting. The increase in speed is due to the way your vision is drawn through the rear sight. You don’t have to acquire a sight picture. You are looking through the rear sight not at the rear sight. Just put the front sight where you want to shoot and squeeze the trigger. It’s the fastest sight combination for Cowboy Action Shooters. Webster Marble advocated a tang mounted peep sight on every hunting gun and called the Peep Tang Sight "the perfect rear sight." Once you use one, you will agree.

The Marble’s® Peep Tang Sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. The adjustments are micrometer precise. Each firm detent click equals four-tenths of an inch movement at 100 yards.

DUKE NUKEM,
Thank you for the post. Yes, indeed, I have 3 rifles with the Marbles tang sights and they are great, also having the windage adjustment. They also come with 3 different sighting discs.... one for hunting, one for target shooting and one for all around.
I also have a few rifles with Lyman tang sights that do not have the windage adjustment so for windage, one has to either move the front sight or shim one side of the tang sight.
Thanks again, w30wcf

Cockatoo, I love your choice in 22 Rifles..I have the 1897 Cowboy Limited that I feel is one of the best 22 rifles that Marlin reintroduced. Too bad it was a limited run.. ADDING the Marble Tang site should make it even more of a tack driver!!

That is an original 1897 that was my father's. It had it on it when my grandfather bough it for him(from a pawn shop). He had it as a boy in the 1930s. I also have a 1951 39A.
My older brother has an original Winchester 1892 in 32-20 that has the 18" barrel. And the original hip holster for it. My grandfather brought it back from South America.

I grew up about right next door to the marble arms factory. They used to make good products. Now they sold out to a corporation in TX that outsources all there products oversees. They make nothing in the US anymore. They fired all there knife makers and now two of them started there own companys. One is bark river knife company and the other is wolverine knife company. Both make a product superior to anything marbles ever made. Now to the tang sights. Ive never cared for a tang sight. It prevents me from being able to wrap my thumb around the top of the stock. Now any cowboy action shoot knows that thats not the proper way to run a lever gun but this old boy has a hard time changing old habbtits. As to marbles though i wouldnt spend a red cent on anything they ever made again. As a matter of fact i sold my whole collection of marble knives because i didnt want them in the house. To many people i knew lost there jobs to these corporate yuppies that call themselves marble arms now.

Lloyd, Thank you for that information. I have noticed that the last two Marbles tang sights I purchased recently do have some slop in them as compared to the one purchased a few years ago. That explains it.
Here's a pic of an old and new Marbles sight on my rimfires:

what do you do with your thumb when shooting with that sight? Looks like it could be painful.

An alternative to the Marbles sights are produced at a custom shop in Montana. They build repro sights to original specs for not much more than the cost of a new Marbles.
