Here is my 1967 39A Golden Mountie. My Dad gave it to me when I was about 11. That is an old Bushnell scope on there that has gotten pretty cloudy. I put the Leuplod VX-1 Rimfire 2-7x28 on my Christmas list, I'm trying to be real good!

I recently refinished the stock. When my Dad gave it to me, we lived outside of town. I could literally shoot in any direction. My Dad always had .22 shells for me and I would shoot everyday. We lived in the middle of wine country (grape vines) in California and there were all kinds of rabbits and squirells. That rifle probably has had a million rounds fired through it. It is one of those really special guns. You know the ones that you pick up and all the history and the fond memories of your life seem to come back to you?

That really is a fine looking rifle, and without doubt you did a great job refinishing the stock.
Having just put the 2X7 Leupold on my SA-22 I can tell you it is one good scope. Your Mountie and the Leupold should make a winning combination.
Thanks for sharing.

bigdog, Thanks. I have had my eye on the Leupold for awhile now. In addition to the VX1 being a great scope for my 22, it looks like it will dress out real well because the scope is proportionate to the size of the rifle. Should be a great heirloom for a grandson someday!

My Mountie (mfg. in 1976) doesn't have a history with me yet. I bought it about a month ago and am now in the process of refinishing the stock. I still haven't decided to scope it when I'm finished ... just balances too darn good ... but you never know.
My other 22's all wear Leupold and I've never been disappointed. Good glass, and they haven't overwhelmed the overall look of the rifles. The best deal I've gotten was from an out-of-state firearms company ... $216 and they paid postage ... that was for the 2X7.
